Department of 生物科学

Biology Major (Bachelor of Science)
Biological scientists study living organisms, cells, or biological molecules. After obtaining an undergraduate degree, most biologists go on to study a specialized area within the life sciences. Biological specializations include marine 生物学, 湖沼学, 生物化学, 植物学, 微生物学, 生理学, 动物学, 生态, 农业科学, 分子生物学, 免疫学, 和神经生物学. One summer term at the WWU Rosario Beach Marine Laboratory is required.

Biochemistry Major (Bachelor of Science)
Biochemistry is an interdisciplinary program. WWU has many strong science-related programs (engineering, 物理, 数学), and chemistry students benefit from high interdisciplinary activity between the departments and resulting in a strong science set and an academically rigorous community.

Bioengineering Science Major (Bachelor of Science)
Studying Bioengineering at 沃拉沃拉大学 will equip you to pursue a career in a wide variety of engineering focused professions. While studying aspects of chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering, you will learn how to combine your engineering knowledge with your understanding of life sciences, physical sciences and mathematics to define and solve problems in a variety of fields including 生物学, 医学, 医疗保健等. By studying Bioengineering at 沃拉沃拉大学 you will have the foundation of technical skills and awareness of social responsibility to make a positive impact on your world.

Bio物理 Major (Bachelor of Science)
The interdisciplinary major in bio物理 should best fulfill the needs of the student who plans a career in 医学 or who plans on research and advanced study into the 物理 of living systems. Bio物理 includes a strong mathematical preparation coupled with the development of problem solving skills and the understanding of fundamental physical processes through the 物理 course requirements. A number of students have used the bio物理 degree as preparation for careers in 医学. It also provides a strong foundation for graduate study in bio物理 and related areas such as environmental science, 分子生物学, 和生理学.

海洋生物学 Major (Bachelor of Science)
Studying marine 生物学 is great preparation for careers in conservation, research, or education. 学生 will spend two summers at WWU’s premiere marine laboratory on the Salish Sea, and get direct access to hands-on opportunities and custom research equipment.

A 生物学 minor is an excellent addition to any major, particularly those focused on health-related professions.
